Tanning is a process that should be done in moderation. Start
off with a very high SPF (depending on your skin type), and as
you tan over time gradually reduce the SPF to a lower protection
as directed by suncare protection manufacturers.
Sunburn is a result
of over exposure to the Suns Ultraviolet (UV) rays and should be
avoided at all costs. Skin peels away after its has been overexposed to
the sun so your tan will peel away too! Avoid this by using the correct
protection factors and applying them regularly especially after swimming.
Remember to drink plenty of liquids when you are in the sun, its
easy to become dehydrated.
It is recommended that you use good
moisturisers to nourish your skin which will help maintain your
colour and prevent peeling.
When using Suntan lotions or
oils, we suggest you use a Tanning Product which contains no Mineral
Oil. Mineral oil is too thick to penetrate deep
into the skin, it clogs pores, remains greasy and prevents the
sunscreen and other ingredients from helping more than just the
surface layers of the skin. In short, your tan will last much longer
if you use a product without mineral oil.
A reliable source of Vitamin D, sunlight eliminates Seasonal Affective
Disorder (S.A.D.) which produces symptoms such as insomnia, carbohydrate
cravings, depression and sadness.
It is reported that exposure to
UV light may have some of the same effects as exercise, such as
decreasing blood pressure, lower resting heart rate and increasing
the blood output of the heart. Furthermore sunlight helps reduce
the risk of breast, colon, and prostate cancer.
Moderate sun exposure
in combination with suncare products can help maximize the beneficial
effects of the sun, just as nature planned it.
